John Freed, principal, has a quarter-century of experience using computers to serve communications. He was an early adopter of the Internet (1974). He led the successful effort to create the world's first fully computerized newspaper production system (1982). He was responsible for computer-assisted reporting projects at The New York Times (1990). He launched the production system of The New York Times on the Web (1996) and was the site's deputy editor (1998).
